De Gaulle: Liberté
La bataille de Gaulle : J’écris ton nom
Antonin Baudry · 2026
Simon Abkarian, Niels Schneider, Thierry Lhermitte, Karim Leklou, Anamaria Vartolomei
History · Drama · 159min · FR
The second part of a biopic following Charles de Gaulle from 1940 to 1945, as the French army officer leads the Free French movement during Nazi occupation and gradually transitions from military command toward political leadership.
Cindy says
Baudry's second installment deepens his De Gaulle portrait with ambitious scope and Abkarian's compelling presence, though the hefty runtime tests patience during slower stretches of political maneuvering. Still, it's a thoughtful, well-crafted historical drama that earns its reverence for a complex figure.
